A free, open-source personal finance app that runs on your computer and keeps your ledger in a local database. Track income, spending, assets, and debts in one place, with optional Plaid bank sync and Codex-assisted transaction classification.

I built Respect Money after transfers between my own accounts kept showing up as income or spending, distorting my monthly totals. With hundreds of transactions each month, fixing categories one row at a time wasn't realistic. I wanted a clearer picture of my finances, and a way to fix a recurring mistake across the ledger instead of correcting it hundreds of times.

When you find a classification mistake, provide an example, scan your ledger for similar transactions, review the matches, and apply the correction in a batch. AI helps with the repetitive work while you decide which changes to apply.

Your saved financial history stays on your computer, with no Respect Money cloud account. Plaid handles optional bank connections, and AI features send selected transaction details and rule examples to your configured Codex model service. Running locally does not make AI processing fully offline.

Manual bookkeeping works without Plaid or Codex. Bank sync requires your own Plaid credentials, and the current AI integration requires a working Codex CLI setup. Respect Money has no app subscription; external services have their own terms and possible charges.
